Flexware Innovation was recently honored with a Firebrand Award at the Ignition Community Conference (ICC) for our work developing a new SCADA/MES system for automotive technology leader Veoneer. This is the first time we’ve been recognized with this distinction, which is presented annually to integrators that have demonstrated the versatility of the Ignition platform in innovative applications.
Ignition Integration Customer Project Overview: Veoneer
Veoneer is a global provider of software and hardware systems for safety and driving assistance, and the company needed to transition from an internal platform for manufacturing supervisory control of its advanced night-vision systems to an Ignition-based solution. In addition to requiring a repeatable framework to manage product traceability, inventory, and production, the new solution also needed to be up and running in just three months due to unexpected licensing restrictions of the legacy system. Using out-of-the-box Ignition tools, Flexware built a complete MES framework from the ground up that not only hit the aggressive timeline but is already delivering a measurable decrease in downtime related to traceability issues. With the new system in place, Veoneer now has the flexibility, insight, and response time to monitor critical KPIs remotely from anywhere, making it possible to track production and downtime data hour-by-hour and make on-the fly adjustments when necessary to production schedules and delivery times.
For more information about this implementation, you can read the project overview here.
This wasn’t our first project with Veoneer. In 2019, Flexware helped the company overcome manufacturing limitations in its brake assembly subsidiary that were rooted in an outdated and inflexible MES system. Our custom-developed SparkMES™ framework, which is also powered by Ignition, helped us go from project kick-off to implementation across multiple sites in just six months. You can read more about how the scalable, fully-customizable SparkMES™ helped Veoneer reduce overall equipment effectiveness here.
Gold-Certified, Premier Ignition Integrator
At Flexware one of our core values is to never stop learning, and we’re always looking ahead to anticipate which tools and solutions are emerging to best help us serve our customers. After almost a quarter-century in business, this approach has provided us with extensive experience on a wide variety of platforms, and Ignition has become instrumental in helping customers get the most from manufacturing processes. Both Veoneer projects, along with our integrations, were executed with a user-centric approach to system configuration, putting the power to own and maintain the solutions in the hands of the customer.
As a Gold-Certified, Premier Ignition Integrator, we’re currently second on the Top-Selling Ignition Integrator listing, following up 2019 when we ended the year ranked third. We also have a nine-person Ignition-specific team, including 18 Ignition Certified engineers. Our partnership with Inductive Automation extends to us hosting Ignition Core Training courses at our Fishers, Indiana headquarters. The 5-day, IA instructor-led courses cover core features as well as offering participants hands-on experience developing an actual Ignition project. The next training class is tentatively scheduled for Q1 of 2021 and you can find out more information here.
We’re clearly big fans of Ignition and the impact it’s having on the manufacturing software industry. Its versatility to create a broad range of industrial applications helps us deliver on our mission of unleashing the potential of technology, freeing people to focus on what’s next. If you have a manufacturing challenge and would like to request a demo or consultation, we’d love to hear from you.
