Flexware Innovation Launches MindSet: Education for Manufacturing Professionals
Fishers, IN – October 7, 2004 – Flexware Innovation, Inc. announces the launch of MindSet, an education and coaching initiative designed for manufacturing professionals. This initiative will include a series of seminars, workshops and webinars that convey best practices and the latest findings in the areas of manufacturing systems and process improvements.
“American manufacturing is in the midst of monumental changes and challenges, due in part to global competition and new technologies,” noted Scott Whitlock, President and CEO of Flexware. “This initiative will keep manufacturing executives and their teams on the winning edge of these changes.”
Topics planned for the coming months include, RFID on the Plant Floor, Manufacturing Execution Systems, Manufacturing Intelligence, Corrective and Preventative Action, Process Analytical Technology, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma.
The company will use a combination of internal and external expertise for MindSet events. “The Flexware team has some of the nation’s brightest minds when it comes to implementing systems and improvement initiatives,” Whitlock noted. “But we understand there are experts around the country that would provide a valuable resource for Midwest manufacturers.”
Recently, Flexware hosted Michael McClellan, a California-based author of two cornerstone books on the subject of manufacturing execution systems. McClellan facilitated a roundtable discussion for some of Indiana’s highest level executives and business leaders.
Discussing the nature of MindSet events, Dwayne Butcher, Flexware’s Communications Manager, says, “These events transcend the traditional classroom. Executives are educated through peer collaboration, benchmarking opportunities, and on-line communities that support participants before, during, and after a session.” Butcher has worked in corporate training and development since 1992 and helped form this initiative.
MindSet events will occur in numerous locations around Indiana. “Manufacturers are spread throughout our State,” Whitlock noted. “To ask executives from Zimmer, Cook, or Mead Johnson, for instance, to travel to Indianapolis just doesn’t make sense.” Whitlock explained that events would be held in South Bend, Warsaw, Indianapolis, Bloomington, Columbus and other manufacturing hotbeds.
Butcher also described Flexware’s Exclusive Events. “Public sessions are valuable, but manufacturers benefit most when sessions are delivered exclusively for their organization,” he said. “It allows for deeper peer collaboration without compromising intellectual property.”
Flexware often partners with the Indiana Manufacturer’s Association and Purdue University in delivering MindSet events. Whitlock explains why partnerships are so important, “We seek partnerships because together we better understand the needs of the manufacturing community. This allows us to offer executives what they truly need, not what we think they need.”
